Promote growth of boys and girls lacrosse by offering year round teams, leagues, camps, and private lessons in both outdoor and indoor venues. Program covers K thru 8th grades, and is offered to both boys and girls in any town close enough to attend.

Coach Bios:

Ron Gale - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
Ron was on one of the first teams that played in Monmouth County, when he started in 5th Grade for Rumson Country Day School.  After grammar school Ron was captain of his high school defense sqaud at The Hill School in Pennsylvania where he was All-State.  Ron then went on to play for Tufts University, starting as a freshman.  After college Ron played for Brine Lacrosse (equipment manufacturer). Ron later resettled in Monmouth County and founded the Maverick Lacrosse League.  Ron currently resides in Colts Neck with his wife Kari and two children.

John Devlin - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
JD is originally from Fair Haven and started playing lacrosse at Rumson Country Day School.  He is a graduate of St. Mark's  in MA, where he was defenseman on two time ISL league champions.  He  started on defense for Dickinson College (PA) for four years and was captain of the team in his final two seasons.  He continues to play actively for TROG lacrosse in Rumson.  He resides in Locust with his wife Liz and four sons. 

Jerry Farrell - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
Jerry grew up upstate New York and attended Horseheads High School where he was captain of his high school lacrosse team.  He went on to Herkimer Community College to play and was captain of the National Championship Team in 1988.  He was also named to the All American team and defenseman of the year in 1988.  He was then given a full athletic scholarship to attend St. Johns University and was captain of the team his senior year.  He continued his education at St. Johns and was an Assistant Coach for one season.  Jerry currently plays for the TROGs men's team based out of Rumson and resides in Colts Neck with his wife Shannon and their three children.

Kevin Gilfillan - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
Kevin grew up in one of the hot beds of lacrosse, Huntington Long Island, and played midfield for Walt Whitman H.S. where he was Captain and an All County selection his Junior and Senior year's. He was granted a scholarship to the University of Delaware where he played midfield for 2 years and then tranferred to play at St. John's University where he graduated in 1992. He then was offered a job with Brine, Inc. where he worked on the camp circuit, developement of product, played for the Brine lacroose club team and headed up their West Coast office to bring lacrosse to the next level out West. He is now currently a partner in a sports management sales agency and the agency currently represents Reebok with the local professional teams in the metro NY area.
Kevin currently plays for the TROGs men's team based out of Rumson, and resides in Holmdel,NJ with his wife Jennifer and two children, Ryan and Erin

John Schaefer - Boy's Coach:
John grew up in Glen Cove, NY (Long Island) where he played lacrosse and was captain his junior and senior year and was selected all-conference/division both years.  He was recuited by Rutgers and played for 2 year (1986-87).  He played for several club teams out of the Huntington, LI area in the late 80s and early 90s. John lives in Colts Neck and plays for the TROGs men's team based out of Rumson.

Mike Sabol - Boy's Coach:
Mike grew up in Summit, NJ and played defense for perrenial state power Summit High School.  Mike continued his lacrosse career at Salisbury and was a member of their DIII National Championship team in the mid-1990's.  He is also an active player with TROG lacrosse.  Mike lives in Tinton Falls with his wife and two children.

Bryant Denny - Boy's Coach:
Bryant grew up in Fair Haven and started playing lacrosse at Rumson Country Day School.  He was player on the first team ever fielded by RFH High School in the late 1990's.  He continued playing in college at Wheaton College as a goalie.

Matt Cooke - Boy's Coach:
Matt is originally from the Syracuse area and played collegiately at Boston College in the mid-1990's.  He currently lives in Monmouth Beach with his wife and three sons.

Chip Rogers - Boy's Coach:
Chip was a member of original team at Rumson Country Day School along with Ron Gale.  Chip played in high school at the Hill School in PA. He coached the RCDS team for a number of years in the early 1980's and was one of the original coaches when Mavericks was founded. He is graduate of the University of Miami and a life long resident of Monmouth Beach.

Rory Gale - Boys Coach:
Rory played on the first Maverick team in 2004, and represents our first player to come back to us as a coach.  Rory after the Mavericks in 2008, went on to become First Team All Prep at the Peddie School in Hightown, NJ.  Rory also played for Tri-State Lacrosse for a number of years, and currently plays for two summer college league teams. He will be playing for Boston College next year. In addition to coaching for the Mavericks, Rory runs Native Lacrosse, a group of college players providing private lessons in NJ.  His lessons are extended to Maverick team players.

Steve Milkowski - Girl's Head Coach:
Steve has been Head of our Mavericks Girl's Lacrosse Program since 2008.  He was formerly the Asistant Varsisty Coach at St. Rose from 2004-2007. While there he also managed all of their lacrosse camps (the "Run for Roses" Girls Lax Camps).  He also continues to actively run the Girl's Lax winter camps at Good Sports in Wall, NJ.

Kate Morton - Girl's Coach:
Kate Morton currently teaches 1st grade at the Rumson Country Day School. She is also the head coach of the girls’ soccer team and assistant coach of the girls’ lacrosse team there. She graduated from DeSales University with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and from Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies. While at Lafayette College, she was a member of the women’s soccer team. Besides being the assistant at RCDS the past 3 seasons, she has also been the assistant coach at Neshaminy High School and Central Bucks South High School. She was also the head coach of the Easton Area Middle School lax team for 5th & 6th grades.

Kelly Grady - Girl's Coach:
Kelly graduated from Montclair State University in 2004 where she played defense for the women’s lacrosse team for three years.  She was the captain her senior year and received both all-conference (Knickerbocker Conference) and all-region (ECAC-metro) honors as a junior and senior.  She also received all-academic honors all three years for the region (ECAC-metro).  Following graduation she began teaching Health/Phys. Ed and coaching lacrosse at Central Regional HS located in Bayville, NJ.  She was an assistant (JV) coach for two years at Central and then moved on to be the head varsity coach at Colts Neck High School. Unfortunately she will not be able to continue coaching at Colts Neck because she received a new teaching job at Rumson Country Day School where she continues to teach grades K-8 Physical Education and will Heads their lacrosse program.  In addition to school coaching, she is a volunteer coach with the Toms River Lacrosse Club’s 5/6th and 7/8th grade teams and summer programs for the past 7 years.

JoAnn Bracco - Girl's Coach:
JoAnn is a Health and Physical Education teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School.  She has been teaching P.E./Health for 8 years now.  JoAnn grew up in Jackson, NJ and graduated from Jackson Memorial High School in 2000.  She then attended Montclair State University and graduated from there in 2005. She played lacrosse all 4 years while attending Montclair, a Division I NCAA school. JoAnn, after college spent some time playing at the Wall Sports Arena on two different indoor leagues.  She then spent some time coaching the girls Varsity Lacross team at Colts Neck High School.
Dana Lenneper - Girl's Coach
Dana is currently a teacher's assistant in the Tinton Falls School system, where she works one-on-one with adolescent boys that have behavioral issues, emotional disturbances, or learning disabilities. Relative to Lacrosse - Dana played all four years at Georgian Court a Division II NCAA school under an athletic scholarship.  While a player she was appointed to the Academic All-American Team for Division II NCAA 2012, was a member of NCAA’S Chi Alpha Sigma National Athletic Honor Society, was Captain of GCU Lacrosse team 2011-2012 , and MVP for her 2012 season while earning distinction as a 1st Team All Conference Player.
